Our First Week Together
Welcome to the 26/27 school year.
September 4th 2026
What a beautiful beginning to the 2026–2027 school year! Our first week was filled with warm welcomes, new friendships, familiar faces, and the gentle return to our classroom rhythms.
The children spent time becoming acquainted with their teachers, classmates, and thoughtfully prepared environments. They practiced caring for their belongings, choosing activities, moving peacefully through the classroom, and participating in our daily routines. These simple experiences build the confidence, independence, and sense of belonging that will support them throughout the school year.
In Our Nursery Classroom
Our youngest children are beginning with a thoughtful transition period. Starting school, separating from home, and becoming comfortable in a new environment are meaningful milestones for two- and three-year-olds.
During this time, our Nursery teachers are focusing on connection, consistency, gentle reassurance, songs, stories, and predictable routines. We are allowing each child the time and space needed to feel safe before moving more deeply into the Nursery curriculum in mid-September.
Nursery families are invited to send in a small family photograph for our classroom family tree. Seeing familiar faces in the classroom can provide comfort and help children feel that their families remain close throughout the school day.
In Our Primary Classroom
Our Primary children are settling back into the Montessori work cycle and becoming reacquainted with classroom expectations. This opening period allows teachers to observe each child carefully, strengthen the classroom community, and introduce or revisit lessons according to individual readiness.
The children are practicing grace and courtesy, caring for the environment, making independent choices, and developing the concentration needed for meaningful Montessori work.
Looking Ahead
Over the coming weeks, we will continue strengthening classroom routines, building relationships, and helping each child feel secure and confident within the school community. Once these important foundations are established, the children will begin engaging more deeply with their Montessori curriculum and classroom materials.
